KAILUA WAXING FOR ALL OF OAHU
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
THE TEA ABOUT WAXING
Q: Why is waxing better than shaving or plucking?
A: Wax pulls hair out by the roots leaving your skin smoother for a longer period of time.
Q: Does hair have to be a certain length to get waxed?
A: About ¼ inch (about the length of a grain of rice).
Q: What is the effect of waxing on the skin?
A: Some people experience some minor irritation that disappears within a couple of hours.
Q: Can I come in while I’m on my period?
A: You can – but it’s better if you wait. Women tend to be sensitive during their period- some women are also sensitive right before or right after causing the stinging sensation to be a little more.
Q: Can I get waxed if I’m pregnant or trying to become pregnant?
A: Of course! In fact many pregnant women come in to get waxed in preparation for their big day!
A: Bikini waxing removes hair in the areas that surround the bikini area. A Brazilian wax removes all of the hair from front to back.
Q: What is the difference between a bikini wax and a Brazilian wax? (what areas do they cover)
Q: Who can get waxed?
A: Anyone 16 and up. If your under 18, a parent must accompany you.
However, if you are currently taking any medication or using topical creams for acne or exfoliation treatments, it may cause your skin to become fragile or sensetive and it is not recommended that you get waxed.
Discontinue use of these medications for a minimum of three (3) months, or a minimum of one (1) year if you're using Accutane, prior to waxing. Please consult a dermatologist.
Q: What is the difference between Hard Wax and Strip Wax?
A: We use European Hard Wax for Brazilian Waxing, Bikini Waxing and for waxing other sensitive areas. With Hard Wax your specialist is able to control how hot the wax gets, which means you won’t get burns. It also pulls deeper keeping you smoother longer. Hard Wax is gentle on the skin and isn’t as painful. Strip Wax is great for waxing legs, face, arms and armpits – but has to be monitored so that it won’t get too hot.
A: It’s best if you wait a day or two before going to the beach or pool.
